So the curtain came down on 2017 with a performance in Bahrain. This was the fourth year I had been invited out to perform and it seems that each year just keeps getting better and better. With over 400 guests to entertain, I started the evening at 7 o clock and left the venue at 6 in the morning! A new record!! Catching up with familiar faces, meeting new people and just having a great time was all part of the journey and it was a thrill once again.
I have always and will continue to feel not only a sense of pride in what I do but feel privileged to be able to travel out to the middle east and do what I believe I have been put on this planet to do.
I sit writing this on my way back to the UK and reflecting on 2017 with so many thoughts, so many emotions. It was a successful year but I can't help hold onto the fact I truly believe there is better things yet to come. As the years go by the learning never stops, the fun never goes away and my mind continues to thrive with ideas of how I can improve and how I can create and challenge myself further within my craft.
2017 saw the sad loss of my favourite Magician of all time Daryl. I still remember meeting Daryl when he was lecturing in the UK. His passion, energy and talent has never gone unnoticed and it has left such a sad and huge gap in every person's life who had learnt, seen or who had the pleasure of talking to the who I believe was the greatest of them all.
Away from Magic saw the arrival of my beautiful daughter Frankie who has brought an extra element of love and joy to our family. My little boy Ronnie started school and seeing a young boy now start to develop further is magical in itself and something I am so proud to witness. His cheeky personality and bags of energy I admire despite the early wake up calls in the morning!
My wife Zoë has guided us through a busy 2017 and has been at the heart of Jason Rea Magic. Zoë has the task of organising all bookings and she really has done a great job. Over the past 6 years she has worked hard to make us more efficient and make the booking experience as easy and straight forward as possible. She may be working hard in the background but she definitely deserves huge credit for the tireless hours she's puts in and for all the effort, dedication and commitment she has along with looking after two children, our dog Mavis and of course me!!!
So here's closing the door on 2017 and starting a new chapter and another exciting adventure.
To all who I performed for in 2017 I say thank you! And I cannot wait to perform for everyone in 2018! The year is what you make it so let's make it the best yet!
